That was before mairs.net blew up for the last time. Well, probably not the last time, but the first time on a catastrophic hardware failure. Wait, that isn’t true either. To the specifics, then.
The iMac in Williamsburg has blown its hard drive. It simply clicks now. No boot, no evidence of even the effort. -Click. And the questionmark. So I threw in another drive. A PC drive, which by some coincidence is the identical model to the one that’s failed. But getting an OS installed is more of a challenge than I’d guessed. Given that the CDROM boots unpredictably. Which inspired me to the genius heights of punching it. It didn’t boot at all for a couple of tries after that. After teaching me that lesson it resumed successful failures of amazing variety.
It’s still down of course. So mairs.net is on the iMacDV in my bedroom right now. I’ll revisit Williamsburg this weekend.
