Happy labor day morons (warning adult language?)!
the future is now. That's the latest addition to the mpmon cloud. 7 inch dual-core 32 bit RISC w/ a gig o' RAM - much better specs than my first web server.
Holy crap Oracle, have you no pride? Crappy crappidy crap yo, just unbelievably terrible. And/or neglected. I am very sad that they destroyed SUN. I am sad that they're destroying VirtualBox. I am slightly sad that they will destroy MySQL. But mostly I am disgusted by Ellison's yacht and tax dodges.
No progress on lost in a long time. Too much stuff to do. No time to get lost.
Getting better at Bro. In combination with Splunk I do feel like the NSA sometimes. But then I remind myself, we don't keep secrets. I don't have any problem with total information awareness. But secrets make it partial; and that's partially shady. Because given current conditions, that means elitism. This is a very big problem. Elites have proven repeatedly and consistently that they follow the vile maxim of the masters. And watching my own little cluster I witness plenty of bad behavior. Iff you're not using Duo, I must ask, whyever not?
On social networks we witness plenty of bad behavior too. Or witless, plenty bland behavior. How do so many people fail to notice that they are not super-rich, and that, therefore, wealth redistribution is in their best interest? That the difference between freedom fighters and terrorists is perspective? That as garbage as Islam may be, it isn't much worse than the other two thirds of the crock, and that it's garbagosity is certainly no excuse for racism?
I work for the Office of Privacy (and Information Assurance). And I don't believe in privacy. And they call me a Sr. Security Engineer. Though I think security is generally an illusion. And my Chinese wife asks why I'm working on this blog if I'm not getting paid for it.
